"A very friendly, safe and encouraging team run Spirit. Every child is encouraged to work at their own pace. My granddaughter has gained in strength and self assurance along the way. Highly recommended." - Google review.

About the Sport of Gymnastics

If you are new to the sport, gymnastics can sometimes be a little confusing - there are several different branches of the sport in the UK, all under a single National Governing Body - British Gymnastics. Many people are familiar with Men's and Women's Artistic Gymnastics - it's what you often see on TV and at the Olympics.

But there are lots of other exciting versions of the sport that don't get as much publicity, and one of these is Acrobatic Gymnastics.
Acro, as it's also known, involves competing on a floor to music, performing a routine in front of a panel of judges. It helps gymnasts develop some great skills and attributes, such as strength, flexibility, courage, trust, teamwork, dedication, discipline and fitness. See our Gallery page for some examples of top level acro!
All the famous names you have seen at the Olympics started their careers doing the basics of the sport - what we call the Foundation level. It is here that we lay a strong foundation of fundamental skills upon which the more advanced skills are built.
It's never too early to start gymnastics and begin to develop a child's balance, coordination and social interaction, all in a fun, welcoming and safe environment!
